Hi, my name is D. V. Stone. I am a multi-genre author who also enjoys reading across genres. On this page you'll meet a great group of writers and get an insider's view into their lives and books. I hope you enjoy this special peek and find new and exciting reads.

Who: Mother, daughter, fiancée, sister, friend, author, editor, cat-lover. Oh—and brand-new grandma! (That’s so recent, I keep forgetting! Or maybe I’m in denial that, yes, I am that old.) Interests: Power-walking, word puzzles, reading. I love stories with a quirky premise. For instance, the novel I just finished reading, The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V. E. Schwab, is about a girl who makes a deal with the devil and ends up being forgotten by everyone she meets. The author did a superb job of examining all facets of that situation. Network: I’m an editor by trade, and many of my fellow editors are also writers. We started a chat room at work, Invisible Ink, where we communicate about the writing craft. I also have some steadfast beta readers and an enthusiastic street team to help me spread the word about my books. Desk: Messy, with occasional bouts of tidiness. My desk is a garden that won’t stop sprouting weeds. Papers, books, file folders, sticky notes, index cards, newspaper clippings, potato chip crumbs. When it gets to the point where I can’t find things, I get the hoe out and give it a good weeding. (Wish somebody would invent mulch for computer desks.) Outrageous: I can recite the first nine stanzas of Edgar Allen Poe’s poem The Raven. (See “Window,” below. Is there a theme developing here???) Window: What’s outside my window? Birds, dozens of them! And they’re huge—I think they’re vultures. They travel in a flock; there’s never just one or two. It’s either zero or forty. Did you ever see the Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds? That’s what I think of every time I go out for a walk. If those birds ever decide to swoop down and attack me, I won’t stand a chance. Mall Girl Meets the Shadow Vandal A middle-grade novel (ages 9-13) by Kimberly Baer "“A lively, jaunty mystery with a terrific cast of characters.” – Kirkus Reviews Mall Girl Meets the Shadow Vandal Chloe Lamont doesn't live in a neighborhood, like most kids. Desperate to catch the real vandal and clear her name, Chloe seeks help from the kids in her Mystery Reading Group at school. While searching for clues, the Mystery Groupers make an astounding discovery. And then things get really crazy… Buy Links: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08VHX647Q https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/mall-girl-meets-the-shadow-vandal-kimberly-baer/1138734047?ean=2940162478164 Further Peek https://www.kimberlybaer.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AuthorKimberlyBaer/ https://www.twitter.com/KimberlyBaer14 3/22/2021 09:13:14 am
Oh, I like birds, but that many would probably freak me out. :) Good luck with your book.

Impressive that you can recite the first nine stanzas of Edgar Allen Poe’s poem The Raven, Kimberly. All the best with your new release!

Thanks so much, Mary! To put things in perspective, The Raven contains 18 stanzas, so if reciting it was an academic test, I'd get a failing grade. :(

Oh, gosh, I remember The Raven. We had to memorize some of it to for a class once! And congrats on the grandmother role. You'll love that one too :)

Thanks so much for stopping by, Barb! Do you still have those Raven verses memorized? I still remember some poems I had to memorize in seventh grade..though I can't recall what I had for lunch yesterday! 3/22/2021 12:14:01 pm
Your desk sounds like mine LOL! And the view outside your window....let's hope AHC's BIRDS never comes to pass in your yard.
