I’m Liberty Parker.  I have been an avid reader for most of my life. When I was younger I used to sit and fill spiral notebooks full of stories for my grandmother. As I got older I took the jobs needed for raising my boys as a single mom until I met my now amazing husband. I started off by promoting authors, then I took up blogging and reviewing for authors. Which has lead me down the path of writing and creating characters and telling their stories. I love getting creative and working behind the scenes with my characters and bringing my imagination to life.

This review of Rock House Grill is from Amazon.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you love a multi-layered story that pulls you into its world like I do, choose The Rock House Grill. Rock House Grill (its name derives from the fabulous menu of rock songs played there) is the center of the Shay and Aden’s story.
Aden House is a talented chef who has loses direction when he becomes the hot shot chef of a TV cooking show. As a devotee of those shows and their fast paced competitions, it’s easy to see how Aden could be sucked into that world without realizing how it would change his life—for the worse. Shay McDowell is a divorced part-time EMT and part-time head of the house at another local restaurant. When her cheating ex’s current squeeze makes trouble for Shay at her restaurant job, getting her fired, Shay applies for work at The Rock House Grill which is floundering since Chef Aden, distracted by his TV gig, was involved in a life threatening car accident.
Little do either of them know but when Aden had his near fatal accident, it was Shay who assisted in his jaws of life rescue.
I won’t give away more of the actual story. Ms. Stone has filled this slow burning romance with relatable people and realistic situations. With Shay’s dear friend, Joanna and Aden’s twin sister Olivia, other work friends and the aforementioned villainous ex, rounding out a full menu of characters, Ms. Stone has sprinkled moments of realism, sweetness, suspense, pathos, friendship and most of all, resilience. Aden needs to figure out how to recover use of his legs, save his restaurant, and importantly, preserve his friendships. Shay, a spirited survivor, is more talented than she believes, and in spite of misfortune, never lost her giving nature or gift for friendship. We get a look at some other relationships in this story and a bit of a preview of another story which I hope will be coming soon.

Lyndi Alexander hosted me on her blog
lyndialexander.wordpress.com/2020/10/19/adventures-in-ice-cream-yum/
Talking about Adventures In Ice Cream. Here's a teaser.
Thank you so much for inviting me to your blog. Sometimes it’s the mundane things in life that are an adventure. Stepping out of your lane and trying something new. Starting a business. Trying a new recipe. Facing life head-on. Eating ice cream on a cold day. I know it’s October, but it’s never too cold for a bowl of chilled sweetness. Believe it or not, my favorite is plain ole vanilla, not too adventurous, huh.

These three books are all quite different and that's the way I roll. I enjoy books from across many genres and here are two paranormal and one contemporary. As usual, I'll never post something I don't enjoy. There's no hard and fast rule about who enjoys what. I'll always give you reviews on those I like. The other's well my momma always said if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all.

Woke- by Peggy Jaeger 🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉 Contemporary with a nod to Sleeping Beauty
I loved the story. Waking up from a coma, Aurora faces struggles physically and emotionally. She's such a strong character. The world around her has changed so much. She needs to reconcile her girlish and immature past to the more mature woman she's now is. What happened to her friends? Who drugged her and why. There's so much mystery and suspense to keep the reader hooked. Especially when she bumps into the handsome Kincaide Enright. What secrets does he hold? The secondary characters were also well written. I recommend Woke by Peggy Jaeger and think you will enjoy it.

Cursed Prince- by D.N. Crawford 🦉🦉🦉🦉 Paranormal Romance
Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2020As a fan of fantasy and especially elves, I downloaded this book. Immediately, I was caught up in the story. To me, it is a unique telling in a dystopian, modern manner. Both main characters are well developed and engaging. There is subtle humor. The world-building is exceptional. There is some minor cursing, and no explicit sex scenes, which I appreciate. I read this book in two days on a camping trip and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Midlife Magic - by Victoria Danann 🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉 Paranormal Romance
I loved this book. I'm a fan of Ms. Danann's Knights of the Black Swan series and she didn't disappoint me with Midlife Magic in this new series. Sometimes poignant, sometimes laugh out loud I enjoyed this book about a woman find herself on her own but then given a second chance at an exciting and adventurous life. A page-turner from cover to cover, I look forward to reading the next book.

Thanks for stopping over. As many know we were on Pete's retirement celebration trip. Two weeks starting in Niagara Falls, then off to Bar Harbor Maine. After a few days there Boston Massachusetts and finally Mystic Connecticut. Tighten your seat belts folks and keep your hands inside the ride. We'd been looking forward to the trip for over a year, but as usual nothing goes as planned. If I were French, I may say c'est la vie.

First, Niagara Falls did not disappoint. Below are some pictures I took during out three day stay. It was awe inspiring. If you get a chance to visit, do. I finally got to see not one but two of the Great Lakes, Erie and Ontario. They were warmer than I expected but still cold. No way was I going in, Hali however dipped her paws in.

Tuesday we headed out again. An overnight was planned in Strafford New Hampshire. We never made it. Just north of Marlborough Mass., cars began honking and waving. Thank you to the unknown people who did. 2Hoots rear wheel blew it's bearings, and where there's smoke there's fire. Our trusty fire extinguisher and Pete put it out, but now here we were at 9 p.m. sitting on the side of the road.

I'm going to give you all a word of advice here. Buyer beware. Not my camper, but the services we'd contracted. AAA you should be ashamed. We paid a lot extra for RV roadside assistance. Hello! America is in your name. One call to the local club and we were informed "we don't have RV in our service." Wait. What? Yeah, to bad for us. The agent who answered told us we could try submitting to our local chapter.  Thanks a lot. But never fear! We have Good Sam's Roadside assistance too! Don't get excited. After calling we were again informed our plan didn't cover the trailer only the tow vehicle. Again... Wait! What? You're an RV club. Nope, see ya. Wouldn't want to be ya. Pete and I looked at each other in disbelief. At least Good Sam gave us some numbers to call. Most didn't answer since it was so late.

But that said we found a young man via - and here's a shout out -

TED'S OF FAYVILLE, INC. 300 TURNPIKE ROAD, SOUTHBOROUGH, MA 01772
And especially to Geoff who responded to our distress phone call was patient, understanding and kind throughout the experience. He got us off the road and to the next step for repairs. Also a shout out to Pro Team Suspension and Tires. I couldn't find their website but they worked hard to get us back on the road Wednesday though were unable to locate the parts. The axel needs to be replaced. That said we came home and left my baby in Mass. where we expect a call Tuesday.

At that time we'll head up to get 2Hoots. Bar Harbor and Boston are out, but Mystic is still a possibility. Stay tuned. Anywho, here are some pictures we have and we'll always have Niagara... And stay tuned. We may yet get Mystic. You can't let things get you down.  AAA and Good Sam haven't heard the last of us. We'll forge on with our trips and certainly be more cautious about reading the fine print. There's still so much to see of our great country. We've only touched the possibilities.
Picture
I took a step outside of my usual genres because I'd heard about and was intrigued by this book. Thank goodness I've been happily married for 26 years. I fear I wouldn't survive today's online dating. That said, I have someone close to me who has been through this. Let me tell you, this story may be fiction, but knowing what I do through this person, it can all be true. Middle Ageish is at times funny, at times poignant, at times heart-wrenching, but at all times interesting and entertaining. I love Sunny. She is smart, funny, strong, yet vulnerable. Even when her sometimes snarky mind is mean (she is a bit judgy with weight), you can't help rooting for her. The men she meets you think can't be for real, but they are. The situations far fetched? Nope. Ms. Goldberg seems to know what she's talking about. I love the world-building and the food descriptions will have your mouth watering. When she finally gives sweet Luke a second chance, you'll be rooting for both of them.

Now time is ticking away so let's get to it...
I never realized we had such a thing for time and clocks in our house until I went looking. These are a few of the favorites. The two old-old ones came out of my husband, Pete's, grandparents. The tall one came back to our home recently. It had been in the family's rec-room then went to an aunt and now is back in its original spot. Several years ago Pete gave me the Banjo clock as a gift. And Goofy is one of my favorite wristwatches. You remember wristwatches, right?

Book Review - The Fudge Ripple Effect by Nick Greenwood
🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉

It's sure tough to go back home as an adult child especially when you feel like a failure.
Jaz is an artist who's life in Arizona has fallen apart. She heads home to Rhode Island an overbearing parent who wants to mold her into the perfect high-class daughter and fold her into the family business.
Sawyer is a great guy. He's the generational owner of Henny's Old Fashioned Soda Fountain, a town favorite with deep roots and history. An accident shatters not only the historical front window but hopes for a profitable summer season.
When Jax, a glass artist, answers the advertisement for someone to fix the window, neither expects to not only have the window mended but both their hearts.
I thoroughly enjoyed this small-town story, it symbolism, and of course the ice cream. Fudge Ripple is one of my favorites.

Book Review- The Haunted Purse by Kimberly Baer

🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I eagerly grabbed The Haunted Purse as an advanced reader copy from Booksprout after reading the description. It wasn’t what I expected. It was so much more.
Certainly, the book was about a purse that was haunted and leaving clues about a murder, but as I read, the bigger story of a neglected child facing the dangers of the world went straight to my heart.
At times the story was funny, tension-filled always, heartbreaking often. Engaging me from page one and holding me captive until the end. The author does a great job of character development, world-building, and an unexpected storyline. I appreciate near the end that not all things can be neat and tidy. That the villain is not the obvious, and help can come from unpredicted places. I believe you will enjoy this book.

Picture
You can’t ask for more from a story.

🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉
I haven’t had a flavor yet I didn’t like from the One Scoop or Two series but Always, Almond Fudge really touched me. There is a scene with the main male character, Anthony, that made me pause, put my hand over my heart and go, “Aww!” You can’t ask for more from a story.
The main female character is Merry and even though young, she is quite admirable with a work ethic, happy disposition, and loyalty to family, and yet doesn’t let go of her dreams.
I also like the style where the present day mother is handing down the oral history of their family to her son and the connection he finds with his relatives.
I loved this short, sweet story of a world I didn’t know, but now miss. Read this book. You won’t be sorry and you’ll dream of a time and world of care, innocence and love. And maybe begin to crave a bowl of Almond Fudge ice cream and someone to share it with.

Talking about It’s all in the delivery.
People love stories. Whether spoken or written for thousands of years, stories have been passed down. Sometimes they’re fun, sometimes educational, but it’s all in the delivery. Below is one of my favorite scenes from Rock House Grill. How much less of an impact would it have if John just walked in and lectured Aden. “Buck up, man. Life is hard. Get it together.” Not so much, right?

Interviewer     “We are in the small New Jersey community of Lake Unami. Recent big city to small-town entrepreneur Nathan James is in the interview hot seat. Welcome, Nathan. You have a beautiful apartment.”
Nathan           “Thank you, and thank you for having me.” He squirms in the chair a bit. “I’m not used to being the center of attention.”
Interviewer     “Don’t worry. The readers don’t bite. Well, most of them anyway. Tell us who you are.”

D.V. STONE ON THE TROUBLE WITH FIRSTS AND A WORD ABOUT SECOND CHANCES

I was in my mid-thirties when I’d divorced and then met my husband Pete. Some things were a little awkward at first. (Check out our wedding photo.) You have to learn new ways to relate to someone. In Gloriana Jones’ case, she is in her late forties and hasn’t been with someone new in over twenty years. One of the things she struggles with is body image.

Happy July! We're Halfway Through 2020 D. V.'s Newsletter

PictureMy husband's Christmas madness
Have you heard of the Wisdom of Solomon? He once wrote, "there's nothing new under the sun." For all of recorded history there has been strife. Life has always been a struggle. The '60s were years of unrest, in the early '70s our country was still reeling. (Oh yes, I was alive then). Amazing heights and tragic lows. In 1971 an artist by the name of Curtis Mayfield recorded Keep On Keeping On. The link is below if you want to check it out. And honestly what other choice do we have? We must continue to live, love, and be kind.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-l91O9VxN0 So, I hope you are finding peace and comfort during this time. And as Curtis wrote, "And there's still a lot of faith, warmth, and trust when we keep on keeping on".

In my own life, things have been a little crazy. If you remember, last month I went back to work after being furloughed. I'm still looking for the balance since my schedule and position are different. But I have less than a year now until retirement. (I'm jamming to Keep On Keeping On).Peter is retiring at the end of the month. He told me on his first day off he'll be working on his Christmas Displays.

He's also going on an emergency build in West Virginia with members of our church to put a solid roof over a woman living in desperate conditions.
A few days from now, My second book with Wild Rose Press will be released. On July 8th, I'm hosting a release party, both at home and virtually on Facebook. I hope you'll join me https://bit.ly/2A6l2sY_ReleaseParty I'll be drawing names for some great prizes including a Coach wallet, Amazon gift cards, signed books, and a gift basket. Hope you can stop by from 7-9 p.m.

I read and reviewed this book by Anna M. Taylor.
I love a ghost story. That said, this book is haunting and not because of the ghost. Though based in the past, it’s certainly a book for these troubled times. Read the entire review here

I also read and reviewed this one. It's a bit on the steamier side
Right out of the gate, there is action and mystery.
A Passionate Play kept me rooting for musical theater actress Alicia Coleman. The story is layered and rich. I love Ms. Lauryn’s writing style, and at times it brought to mind the tales of Daphne du Maurier.
We are given a peek into the behind the scenes lives of those involved in bringing entertainment to us. Throughout the telling, there is an underlining thread of how decisions affect not only the character who made it but the repercussions to those around them.

And here is a blessing for you

Oh, look. You were interested enough to click on this page. Hi! So, what would you like to know about D. V. Stone? If you were looking for another boring biography, forget that. I’m only serious when they make me. Otherwise, if I can get in a laugh, I’m going for it. I’m not a comedian, really. I do like to make folks laugh, though. Life can be too serious, too sensitive and too mean.

I’m a lover of memes, emojis, and goofy pictures. This is one of my favorite memes.  And so true. My brother asked me if I use my words anymore when I texted him.

What else do I love? My husband, definitely. My son and lovely daughter-in-law who have given me the best grands a woman could ask for. My mom, sister, and brothers. My dog. I tolerate the cat (just kidding, get a grip).

I enjoy camping, though some call it glamping. This body is too old to sleep on the ground and not have a bathroom. Fires in my chiminea or at the campgrounds we visit are high on my list. Sitting on the deck, watching birds and butterflies. Walking the above-mentioned dog. Music in its many forms. Classic Rock, Southern Rock, and Blues are interchangeable for my top spot. Oh, and Big band is way up there too. The Great American Songbook.

My top list of things I hate, you ask.
  1. Spiders
  2. Spiders
  3. Cave crickets (they are very spiderish)
  4. Orcs
  5. Lima beans
  6. O.K. I don’t hate them but here is the driving lesson for today. Signal first, brake second.
  7. Spiders, did I mention spiders.
  8. Poor internet connection.
  9. Anyone who is mean to others or animals.
  10. No-see-ums (google it).

My favorite quote
“Your thoughts of God are too human.” Martin Luther

This leads me to my greatest relationship. The one with my Lord and Savior. Without Him, each day could have the potential of being on my top list of things I hate. He is my strength, my comfort, my hope

That leads me to my favorite hymn.

How Great Thou Art

Oops, can’t do only #1 here are the top five interchangeable based on the day so no number.

How Great Thou Art
Great is Thy Faithfulness
Blessed Assurance
Amazing Grace (you knew it had to be in the mix)
Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling

One of my favorite comedians Tim Hawkins, once said I’m not a Christian Comedian, I’m a comedian who is a Christian. That’s me. If your looking for some hidden meaning, you’ll be disappointed. My writing is about hope and love, friends and family, fantasy, and magic.

Just a few more pictures and thoughts

Meet Hali. She rescued us in January and now loves joining us on camping trips. So far her favorite adventure was the dog beach near Ft. Meyers Florida. When we say "Hali, camp" she runs right to the rig and climbs in. She loves people and especially kids. Squirrels are the bane of her existence and she believes it is her job-no her duty, to eradicate the planet of them. Unfortunately, if she comes close to one she freezes. Girl is brave from a distance.

My sweet sweet ride.

One day while I was at work, my dear husband Pete called. His car had broken down and he was taking it to McGuire Chevrolet in Newton NJ  for repairs. Teasing I asked him to check out the Camaros while he waited.
A short while later he showed up. "Come, see what I have."
We walked outside and there she was. Snowball in all her glory. "Do you want it?"
"Are you kidding me?" I asked.
Obviously he wasn't kidding.
Other workers may get flowers or candy sent for special occasions, but how can you not love someone who brings you a hot sports car for no occasion other than he loves you.
Of course he says its the most expensive water pump he ever paid for.

So, here’s the boring bio if you really want one.

D.V. Stone lives in Northern NJ. She has two books published independently through Amazon. Felice, Shield-Mates of Dar is a fantasy romance. Agent Sam Carter and the Mystery at Branch Lake is a mid-grade paranormal. Using her past experience as an Emergency Medical Technician and as the owner of a small restaurant, she combined the two and during National Novel Writing Month and developed the Rock House Grill. Rock House will be the first book in the Impact Series. With her husband Peter, dog Hali, and cat Baby, new adventures await while traveling in their RV. Taking her passion for writing on the road, she knows ideas and inspiration are everywhere. Maybe you too have the wanderlust and will meet them in a campground
Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you did.
